Throw Down the Sword.

Gwydion felt his grip tight around the hilt. He still gave it a firm squeeze despite he knew that he wouldn’t drop it. Sixty years his fingers had made that motion and for sixty years he had never felt it loosen without the command from his will.
Today was not going to be first time. The smoke rose beyond the landscape and it invited Gwydion to look back at the nearby meadows. Even after a battle won, leaving the battlefield back home felt somehow like treason... escape or a retreat. Who had really won? The Welshmen who still stood up while the crows feasted with whatever was left of the Englishmen? He had run them cross the lands, away from Lancaster to the eastern shores of York and triumphed over them once again and still the king of Mercia would not even accept him crawling under his feet like a low worm.
And they call Alphonso a wise king.
Gwydion had led every standing man and young lad of his realm to fight the English oppressors and twice his armies had been destroyed under the might of the English steel that too many, way too many in numbers brought to Wales and twice has his castles been beleaguered and occupied by the Alphonhse’s armies. Yet twice had that king praised as a wise by the Europeans took his armies away, scattered them and begun to move into insignificant continental quarrels. And twice Gwydion had sailed his reserves from Scotland and Irish provinces and defeated the retreating English armies to the dust.

Wisdom was a difficult sport, his mother used to say to him when he went to ask words of advice from the Queen of the Elfland. Not many man mastered it but many tried and many thought himself as a worthy champion in those tournaments of wit. Dôn of the Elfland would give him a blink of an eye and say no more. Gwydion couldn’t forget that expression on her face when the thoughts of Alphonse warmed his weary day.

If the King of Mercia was a wise man, Then Gwydion didn’t know who he was anymore?
Old...
He had outlived all his children from his first marriage. Cynan had died in to his wounds. War had taken away from him the last bits of what had escaped Ellylw’s horrors. He felt blood running out from his fingers when recollecting those losses. They were all gone. All dead. Foulgues was turning into a charming young man, but his distance to his own father had long ceased to bother Gwydion. He was Dôn, but only from his name. They wouldn’t talk French under the greenwood trees of otherside.
Hope to see his dream fulfilled begun to be a dim. He was sixty years old. Too old for kingdoms. He had passed the days when he could look his own reflection and say; there is a stout man of honour and character. Now he was just worn out like a rusty shield that still kept itself together and warded away a hit from a foe, but under all the slashes and nicks the bright colours of arms couldn’t be recognised any longer. In a line of such shields, all would just look the same. It was not far from the truth when Gwydion looked upon his men. Old greasers of his own years hardly make difference between their prince and groom. They were Gwydion’s men. They were what his realm was. If he would drop his sword today, it would all be gone. the Duchy of rugs and beggars would lose their grey prince and they would inscribe his tombs with words of: “He should have dropped it way earlier”.
Gwydion felt the strength in his fingers. Despite his years, his hand didn’t tremble. He would not lose that grip, not today at least.

PROCESSION

Dôn drifted among the procession. It was a single body, a unit with only one purpose, one destination and one motion. Yet it was a procession of individual souls. Or what was left of them.
The trail of the death. Dôn felt their memories and for a short moment, relived them as her eternal presence passed by among the deaths who marched through the shadow side of the fair lands.

They were like cattle. Mindless in their intentions, and it took someone to keep them in move. Someone Dôn was not pleased to meet this time. The procession of the death had its own marching band and own herders for the flock.

But Dôn was not interested of them. She wanted to know where such large and long procession had come. That’s why she was drifting among them, trying to find her way through it to its origins. She found her way. She always did. And like usual, the procession made its motion mostly in time rather than in space, Dôn wasn’t surprised to find herself in calm and quiet hall, somewhere in the middle lands, inside humans’ realms.

Dôn wandered through the lands. It was rich and wealthy kingdom. It laid in fertile land where man’s needs where satisfied by almost as easily as it would have been in the fair side, little effort and work was needed here. People were lazy and passionate. They had more time for the craft of relationships and commerce. They talked lot, felt lot and poured the weight and load of their minds upon just about anybody who could comprehend, yet they meant awful little with all of it. Dôn despised them. They were soft and lukewarm.
Yet these men were in plenty and soon their ranks and numbers would be reduced. The wine that seemed to flow here inside the rivers would soon be replaced with blood. Dôn entered their halls. She met their kings and Queens.
But still she didn’t find the roots of the war of such magnitude that was to come. She then traveled little onwards, to other lands that surrounded. Then she begun heard things.
…of unfair balance
…of strong Rome and false claims upon it
…of mindless land gobbling and power mongering
…how there will be balance once more
…how its vassals are rebellious and people unhappy and unsatisfied
…how it’s going to be in different regency
Once again, the war tales begun to be favorite bedtime stories for children. Excitement gathered up among the common folk. The storm was rising. Dôn felt the dark clouds and ill weather once again. Just like long time ago in England far away. The storm was threatening her very life again.

But just like a storm that suddenly breaks and scatter, the Sun shined again. Something had happened. Dôn had seen the demands and knew that the war would have been to everyone’s pleasure.
…of someone standing back
…of someone getting cold feet
So there will not be wars. Despite the rumors of wars. Dôn was puzzled. She wandered the land and sought answers but heard only whispers.
…how there will be balance once more
…how its vassals are rebellious and people unhappy and unsatisfied
…how it’s going to be in different regency
And when the rumors started again, the power that the storm hit nearly torn them all down.
It was so swift change from peace to holocaust. …People getting burned into their homes. …Armies marching through the land, scorching and tearing the earth.
Dôn saw how the good king raised his regiments and rode to the battle. But the enemies were everywhere. Everyone was the enemy. Everyone wanted to end the good king’s balance. And all claimed personal reasons. …and where was I supposed to know that my neighbor had some grunge as well?
Dôn had heard the rumors. It made her mad. The good king had not. It still made him mad as well. The war raved upon the land but like always, the blood that man has comes to it limits. When the last drip had been split, the fires extinguished. Swords were put back to their hilts. Then the demands where set to the table and Dôn was there no more to witness the lying and betrayal. She had seen the source of the stream of souls to her side. She didn’t want to be there any longer.

This kind of thing is why I love this site.

For a straighforward copy over zip version go here: Goerings Delay -- NZQS -- 1.3b.rar

The Mod can also be set up with the Jones Generic Mod Enabler and has worked fine in that mode in my tests. This version has everything in it, 1.3beta, JSGME and the East is Red patch, and can be installed straight to your Armageddon 1.2 (ZBLV) folder without disrupting vanilla at all. It has the 1.3beta exe update and JGSME Mod system right in it. Just unzip to your main doomsday folder, copy the contents of the folder, then past into the main folder, then enable the mod using the JSGME system. Once you execute the JSGME it is pretty self-explanatory: EIR NZQS --ARMA 1.3beta complete 1.3b

Small patch from XTPS or NZQS 1.2 to NZQS 1.3b: Goering EIR -- Patch 1.3b

It would be a dangerous folly for the British people to underrate the enduring position in world history which Mussolini will hold; or the amazing qualities of courage, comprehension, self-control and perseverance which he exemplifies.

Due bear in mind that you should post it here first before posting on the Pdox site to prevent them from claiming that you cant copy content from their forum to another forum.
