To bad the statistics don't show ships lost by port strikes, because I have sunk a few escorts/subs in this fashion.
I hope Nimitz will soon step his game up and stop Kido Butai's rampage... Big Grin

I really wish ships would carry supplies with them or they would slowly lose a little strength at sea, simply to force them to return to port from time to time. IRL ships needed a lot of maintenance and consumed a lot of oil, a task force couldn't just be parked in the middle of the ocean for a few months... Heck the Japs even considered scuttling some CV's for the Pearl Harbor attack as they didn't think they had enough oil tankers to be able to fuel all the ships for the return trip.

You can't say civilization don't advance - for in every war, they kill you in a new way.

yea i know that usa can produce ships esp those cls faster than i can sink and produce mine, still small victories save me for a longer time. At least, from the names, i gather those bbs were lvl III and IV? so im happy. I only wonder how many cvs you got comming out as we are about 20 months after u entered war :/ - i just hope its not more than 10 though you surely have the spare cags to assign on them Angel Grin

In our thursday game, which is year and a half behind this campaign, has sunk 1 Allied capital ship. Seeing how many allies have lost in this one this makes me despair of the future.

I fail to see the advantage of losing ships just because you have a high IC? Everyone keeps coming back to this point. These ships could be used for less important missions instead. I must be missing something.

Looking forward to monday!

Of course there is no advantage in losing ships, thing is i just now grasp how naval combat works.

as shuer said there is no advantage - just that usa can replace losess easier than japan and uk. Furthermore usa already has at least 5 cvs whilst uk at least has 8 IIRC so those are not "small numbers" and I still need to watch out. Also if you look in the thursday game the allies have already lost india, hawaii, suez and its barely jan 1940. Id think they should play more agressive trade part of the fleet for time. So small losses are acceptable as usa can build it back fast.

Frankly looking at last game I think even though uk lost much more it only happened in late 1940 (iirc singapore fell june/july 1940) - in this game i was already gulping up most of india. Imagine if usa had what it has now in last game. this game the uk navy only appeared once it decided to run from india. Actually loseing a fleet now would be worse as axis are so much ahead already....

Right, as I said my radars could spot the potential invasion of Britain from miles away, therefore I decided to preserve my strength until that threat had passed. In retrospect this was a wise decision as there are now 3 German CV's roaming the European waters... One Tooth Grin Also, this game France was much weaker than the last due to AI control for most part, thus it needed more UK support. Besides, even though my empire is crumbling it is a quite fun game from my perspective - although it was very stressing until Barbarossa was launched.

Now if the Italian fleet would just show its face so I could sink it.... Smile

indeed the idea was to put a bit of pressure on uk - good that it worked. Happy that both the germans and italians navy's are intact - still gives us lots of possibilities Wink

You can go and hunt down Italian fleet, I don't mind Smile
France was slightly weaker, yes. Also we lost much less men in France.

Did allies really manage to eliminate entire divisions in France via Ground attack last session? I'd understand if GER didn't want to divulge this information but I'm only asking because if this really was the case (because it ought to be totally impossible) we need to make sure that dug-in bonus and forts and terrain actually gives protection from air bombardment. ORG damage is fine but STR damage should be really limited unless you are moving around.
