Hi,

We will start to play again in the end of august(I hope).
There is minors on both sides left and also coop on both sides I think.
We would prefer if you can speak Swedish.
Multiplayer is so fun, but also very different than single player.

So let´s see what the rest think ,when they start to get back from vacations.

And just to inform you, I don't think anyone will be surprised, I will need maybe 20 minutes to review and do some setup at the start. Maybe we can set up a bit early and people can go afk to do stuff for a while if they get bored...

Will have the server up by 1830 or something like that. Maybe if people are early we can start up the game first and those who need to fix stuff (like me putting the kids to bed) can do so while the tinkerers tinker away.

My regular computer is out of order but I can hopefully and probably play on my spare computer. I have the exact installation copied to this computer (luckily) and I might even be able to install TS and use a headset but I will need IP etc.

If it for some reason doesn't work I'm sorry but it should.

EDIT:

And when can we start?

After 10 years (or more) of development World in Flames (this was one of the most famous WWII war games of the 80-90s) will finally be released as a computer game.

Maybe some people would be interested in playing a PBEM campaign next spring if it really gets released and we all take the time to learn it?

I never have been much for the Matrix games, even more detail then HoI3 (which is already borderline to much imho).

I'm still wanting to play a game of Arsenal of Democracy with this group. I't economy/strategy/intelligence aspects are just so far superior to HoI3 that I think it outweighs the added detail/maneuver/micro.

And you can't deny being able to finish a game in 2 weeks time instead of 20 weeks sounds nice aswell.

Think I will host a game after our current is finished and see who wants to join Smile

I have compared my save to the one I received from Italy. It's funny. A province that I had captured and held with my forces still was occupied by Soviet forces in the new save (soon fell though). In general troops weren't in the same place. The only unit that has disappeared is a panzer divsion (the 13th). I was in the process of changing brigades on this unit the second the OOS message flashed up and since the game doesn't like when I upgrade or change brigades that is probably it. The brigade that was being entered into the division was still there in the save though.

This should be easily fixed however. The 14th, 15th and 16th panzer divisions look exactly the same but with a bit less experience and organisation so just copy one of these.

Also Germany lost another panzer division when the path of retreat was closed by two retreating Soviet units. Oh, how I hate that "feature"!

Good game though! I am content that Moscow fell of course and the exchange of losses seem to have favoured the Germans with all their armour in the area even to the slogging was hard and slow. Speed will increase during the summer of course.

Next week I will most likely play on my old PC so performance might be a bit slower than usual.

I will try to write some AAR in the general forums during the day.

EDIT:

It seems like I overran 2 Soviet divisions around Archangelsk illegally with an HQ only unit. That was unintentional so feel free to edit them back in on the frontlines there. Im fairly certain I can manage to overrun them again with my much faster mountain infantry again. ;-)

EDIT 2:

Alex. Do you know the name of the HQ that overran the infantry that didn't have troops attached? The only HQs I have on the front have troops attached to them. Remember that mountain troops are faster than regular infantry in forest so it is not impossible that the HQ had troops in it.

Also, in what province did it occur. Praetori is not sure what province to edit them b ack into?

Bitter Peace. Who would have thought?

I have a suggestion for new House Rules:

- Germany must always take Drang Nach Osten (too easy to annex otherwise)
- Add +2 LS to USSR offmap LS per year of warfare (so +4 to USSR now for 1940 and 1941 and maybe a couply of 1000 officers for missing this so far).

We might want to add stuff to Canada and make them the next Commonwealth home when/if UK goes down in the near future.

I will ask on mod forums how to do the LS events for USSR...

I would like to spice up the House Rule suggestion regarding Drang Nach Osten. Let the Axis chose whatever Wargoals they wish but if they chose Annex/Puppet instead of Drang Nach Osten it should enable the US to join the war if either Leningrad, Moscow or Stalingrad falls.

I think that this new houserule suggestion can be something that we can use.

I just wanted to report in before tomorrows session.

My guess is that major war (USA and JAPAN entering into the war) is not too far away. I have some ideas of what the allies might want to do to simulate a more coordinated Wallied/Commonwealth warfare:

- With Australia taking a hit at Gibraltar maybe Canadian and/or South African forces could be transfered to be under Australian command? These forces will need US naval escort anyway to get to somewhere useful without risking further Axis naval interference.

- If USSR wants to Alex could stuff his production queue full of builds and transer temporarily to a western allied nation of his choice (USA either theatre, Canada with South African Forces, Brazil maybe) for a few sessions just to give him something to do while the enforces pact of the Bitter Peace is in place.

- If Romania is bored with the Eastern Front being quite for now he could handle the Luftwaffe for a session or 2.

I'm open to suggestions to what players want to do to make the campaign balanced and fun for everyone involved.

Looking forward to tomorrow!

I think that the Axis has maybe a slight IC advantage, lots more LS and possibly more manpower regain. On the other hand the Allies have a huge USSR manpower pool, a huge US/UK air force, and all the forces to feed these. If the US navy defeats the Japanese navy the war could go on for a long time.

I will try to list different possible scenarios:

- All UK forces (at least in and around UK itself) Exp Forced to USA. UK moves to USA. Maybe the most reasonable and historically correct scenario in this situation.

- All UK forces Exp Forces to Canada. UK moves to Canada.

- Some UK forces moved to Australia

- South African forces moved to Australia

We could also go with the situation that my mistake of not selecting the conquer war goal back in 1939 created but I'm not sure Italy and Japan will be too happy about this. Also UK will be DOWed again in 6 months and overrun I suppose.

Just to clarify the mechanics.
In the current state of the game the UK seems incapable of surrender when the British Isles are lost (if Germany has selected Conquer).

What actually happens is that they lose British territory that are under war-goals (in this case the African holdings under Axis control) plus Britain proper gets occupied (The British Isles from Cornwall to northern Scotland).
This means that all British forces outside of England/Wales/Scotland stay where they are and any British soil not contested (and/or not part of war-goal) stays British (this includes all British overseas holdings still in British hands, the Faraoes etc).

What DOES happen in the UK Isles however is that all and any British force present there surrenders. All British forces on the Isles needs to be transferred as expeditionary to the US before the "surrender" or they're gone (including ships and planes).
British forces elsewhere are not affected.

Also the war continues, no truce is enacted and the UK is still at war with the Axis.

To sum it up. What actually happens is that all British territory in UK proper is occupied by Germany and all British forces on said land vanish, territory claimed as war-goals also switch hands but nothing else changes (Britain gets 0% surrender progress as well).

So in theory the UK could continue the war as before but with the British Isles lost. If the US gives back all expeditionary forces they would return under British command as if nothing else had happened.
