Today, RUS Gold becomes available, both on Matrix Games and on Steam.

UI reminds me of an old Paradox games somehow. Never been able to grasp AGEOD games. I'm getting lazy it seems.

It's turn-based, so very different from Paradox games. It's somewhat on the same scale though, with the possibility to micromanage even more.
A shame the Paradox-AGEOD-cooperation fell through, or we might have had RUS as an RTS.

AGEOD games felt even less accessible to me than P-dox games did to me in the past. But as I say, it might be I'm just getting too lazy to learn more complex games now. RL gets more in the way too.

In the old days, I played Imperialism and Imperialism II (Frog City), and that game had an atmosphere. It was simpler, but it did have it. AGEOD games look like grey shadow to me. That's what I mean. Like games with generic windows interface, it killed a lot of atmo and just didn't feel that good, even when the game alone is good or better then average.

RUS certainly has atmosphere. Rise of Prussia is a bit bland though, and Pride of Nations is virtually unplayable, with the incredibly slow turn resolve speeds even in SP.
Civil War II and Espana 1936 are also pretty good.

Of course, if you really want atmosphere, I reckon you'll feel right at home with "Papers please".
Just like everyday before Schengen, eh?

Hehe, yes. I've seen this one a while ago and it looks fresh in a endless row of unoriginal games of nowadays. I didn't play it yet but I may buy it as a gift to my bro, he's gonna like it Smile
